Short description
Less and less car manufacturers equip
their vehicles with a conventional speed impulse, even though it is
absolutely necessary if you want to connect additional elements to
the original navigation system.
The original navigation systems receive
their speed information from the car’s data systems, in most cases
in form of a coded data set transmitted by the CAN bus to all
electronic control units. Only the original control units are
capable of analysing and transforming the data set, but it is not
allowed, or even dangerous, to tap off the speed signal from the
control units. The applied signal strength is also too small to
ensure the correct operation of the navigation system. It will cause
a lot of trouble if the speed impulse is tapped off from the ESP or
the ABS, because these systems will be read out as defective during
the next car inspection and they will be exchanged. As this is an
external mani-pulation and therefore not a part of the
warranty-contract it will be very expensive for the
customer.
61002 was
developed for engine CAN while 61006 and
61007 can be
connected at the interior CAN, in general within the radio
slot.

Solution
This problem can be avoided by the CAN
bus interface 61002 and 61006.
It is connected parallel to the original
CAN bus and so act as a control unit to read out the speed pulses.
Because of their high input resistance, they do not influence the
original bus system at all. On the output side the interface offer a
square speed pulse with a peak voltage of 12V that guarantees a
stable supply of the navigation system.

Interface 2. Generation - Multi talent
Description
Some things repeat: in the middle of
the 70ies the car producers usually did not equip their cars with radios. For this reason the customer had to
prepare the right mounting place in the cockpit and he had to
lay a cable harness to that place.
The standardization of the OEM-radios as well as the
development of the ISO plug standardization made things quite
easier.
Recently we can notice a change
here. More and more often face-lifted
cars are
delivered wich have only one permanent plus and one minus in
their radio slot. The ignition, the lighting and the speed-impulse
have
to be located in the car and laid to the radio by the
re-fitter himself. And this is of course as difficult as in
the70ies.
To counteract this development the
Interface 61010 was produced.
Most of the cars have in common that ignition, lighting and speed-impulse are transmitted to the original
radio via CAN-bus. The Interface 61010 reads out these
information and transforms them into analogue signals. As
a result, the customer avoids the time-wasting search and
cable-laying in the car.
But the Interface can do even more:
not only the usual
power connections
are converted into an analogue mode, but also the data from
the steeringwheel remote control for Becker
Traffic + Online Pro, DTM, Monza mp3 and the reverse signal are
transformed and put on. In the following cars with interior
CAN Bus the Interface can simplify
the mounting enormously:

At present the interface are suitable
for the following types of cars:
